Obituary of Eva Acs
ACS, Eva (Aradi) - It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eva on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the age of 85 years, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Loving wife of her late husband, Laszlo, she will be lovingly remembered by her son, Leslie/Laszlo (Chantale); daughter, Katharine (Jeffrey); grandsons, Christophe, Edward and Adam; sister, Helena; nephew, Ricardo (Taylor); as well as her cousin, Laszlo Nagy (Aniko) and family, from Hungary. Eva was predeceased by her father, Sandor Aradi; mother, Ilona (Muntyan) Danko; step-father, Laszlo Danko; and sister, Aniko (Danko) Raduka. She will also be dearly missed by her many friends in Kingston, Montreal and Ottawa.
Born in Budapest (Hungary) on June 3, 1937, she grew up in Godollo (Hungary) and Brussels (Belgium), before emigrating to Canada in 1951. She worked in Montreal for Bell Canada and Sears and then retired with her husband to Kingston in 1996. She was warmly welcomed to the community and became actively involved with several groups and volunteer work. She deeply cherished the lasting friendships made with her caring neighbours, fun-loving Newcomers/Alumni Club and supportive bereavement walking group organized by the James Reid Funeral Home. The walks at Lemoine Point, surrounded by lake and forest views meant so much to her - especially hand-feeding the chickadee birds. Eva did not let her cancer diagnosis slow her down or define her, visiting Hungary, Italy and Peru and keeping busy with volunteer work before moving to Ottawa in 2021. Eva will be most remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and for her grace, dignity, strength, kindness, generosity and selflessness.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Internal Medicine and Palliative Care teams at The Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus and to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice for their loving care and support.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish (490 Days Road, Kingston, ON), followed by a reception at the James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston, ON). To view the livestreamed service please CLICK HERE
