I’m a long time friend of Helena, Eva’s sister, and through her I met Eva. I developed a friendship with Eva when Norm & I moved to Belleville, an hour away from Kingston.
We went to lunch several times to her favourite Restaurant Ramekins where she recalled good times with her husband Les and pointed out their favourite table.
We would always go shopping to Winners & Homesense after.
Eva, always thinking of others
decided I should suggest other places to dine. My husband Norm & I took her
to Chez Piggy Restaurant which is popular in Kingston which she enjoyed.
When Covid hit Norm & I made many visits to Eva’s family home and we would chat outside where Eva placed
her lawn chairs the appropriate distance apart.
We said our goodbye’s in May 2021 at her home in Kingston as we moved to Calgary Alberta. We continued to talk occasionally on the phone till we visited
Ottawa in June of 2022 to her new Condo. Helena joined us for lunch and
Eva surprised me with her glowing appearance and her upbeat attitude towards her illness. Although that was the last time I saw Eva we continued to chat on the phone just before she went into the hospital.
I will remember Eva as a strong, intelligent, well travelled, well versed, family oriented Lady.
Rest in peace my dear friend.
Mary & Norm
