Remembering George Hogeboom (December 24th, 2022)
I am sad I cannot be present to pay my respects to George and your family. Our thoughts are with you all in this time of grief.
I strongly admire George for the man he was. Principled. Hard working. Generous. All admirable traits in a man. I was constantly impressed in how one man could build and outfit a dwelling without much assistance at all. As well, to do it while working a full-time job. It is a characteristic found in self-motivated and skilled men who can take a dream and bring it to reality.
George loved his family, and was always there for them. Although I did not have much to offer him in return for his generosity, I am pleased that Sheri and I provided him a grandson. I know that my son, Ian looked up to his grandpa and learned many things from him, and for that I am grateful.
I wish to extend my condolences to the family, and we are thinking of you. I believe George may now be at eternal rest with the woman he loved so dearly, his wife May. It may bear little comfort that they both passed away peacefully on the same day, 8 years apart. However, I choose to view this as a remarkable event, perhaps even magical. As George might know from being a person of believing, I tend to side with this mystical belief on his day of passing. May they both be reunited in everlasting peace.
