Obituary of Alma G. Reading
It is with much sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother Alma Grace Reading (nee Armstrong) on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 at Rosewood Retirement Home.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Stanley (RSM), and survived by her daughters Sheila Conroy (late Robert) and Virginia Fontyn (Herman).
Mom was proud of her extended family: Grandchildren Cynthia Duesss (Robert), Michael Conroy (Susan), Nancy Malden and Julia De Cillis (Sam). Great-grandaughters Jillian Duess, Allison Duess, Victoria Coady (Brandon), Sarah Malden and Teresa De Cillis.
Great-great grandchildren Charlotte, Vera, Tom, Georgia and Abbie.
Mom had a passion for gardening and spent many happy hours tending to her beautiful gardens. She was an enthusiastic bowler, an avid knitter, quilt maker and award winning needleworker. Some of her pieces won prizes at the Canadian National Exhibition. She was a long standing member of St. Mark's Anglican Church Barriefield and the Anglican Church Women, she also enjoyed participating in the Church choir. Her volunteer work was dedicated to supporting the CNIB where she served on the Board for a number of years.
Mom was an easy person to spend time with -- she showed interest in many subjects but most notably she had a delightful sense of humour -- either telling jokes or enjoying those told by others. Her reassuring manner helped to alleviate many of our concerns when needed.
Our Mother was a person of strong faith and knew that angel wings would reunite her with her loving husband.
May she forever rest in peace.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service is planned.
Special appreciation is given to the Staff at Rosewood Retirement Residence for the care and affection Mom enjoyed in the years she resided at the home.
If so desired, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Mark's Anglican Church Barriefield or to the Military Communications and Electronics Museum in Barriefield.
