David was like a second dad to our son, Nicholas, living across the street from us for over twenty years. David and Nicholas shared the same passion for sports, texting each other before and after the big games every weekend. They talked sports non-stop. Nicholas tagged along to David’s trips to the Sport Card Expo in Toronto; they took VIA to see the Jays several times, the Marlies, and even the Argos; and they drove to Ottawa to see the Sens play the Leafs.
Nicholas and Christie enjoyed many trips to the cottage and boat rides. We were so grateful for the extra help David gave Christie in math many years back. David was such a positive, generous and patient person. David was a best friend you could always rely on, always willing to help out in any way he could.
In the neighbourhood, David was a serious “lawn guy”. No weed ever escaped his inspection. The lawn always looked like a well-manicured golf course, meticulously cut minutes upon arriving home from the cottage every Sunday night and often cut mid-week too. In the winter, David had the driveway shovelled before anyone else’s alarm clocks had gone off. David was incredibly brave and athletic climbing up and down the roof many times each fall, getting those last pine needles and leaves out of the eaves. It was exhausting watching him work so hard, but inspirational as well. “Keeping up with David” was the motto. In the warm summer months, we could always see David’s abundant supply of sports jerseys (NHL, CFL, NFL, MLB) hanging out to dry.
Terry, we miss David more than words can say and our hearts go out to you during this sad time. We are here for you.
Lisa, Phil, Nicholas, and Christie Osanic xoxo
