July 20, 1946- November 5, 2019
Bill suddenly passed away peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital at the age of 73 after a week-long battle with Leukemia. Beloved husband of 49 years to Paula (nee Bernard). He will be remembered by his two sons Sean (Catherine) and Pat (Christie). Loving “Poppa” of grandchildren Caitlin, Liam, Kemmis and Mackenzie. Fondly remembered by sister Marylou Gauthier (Bill). Proud uncle of Mark (Mary Beth), Joe, Davina, Steve (Sarah), Maria (Bob), Julia (Jose), and Christy P. Brother-in-law of Mary (Mike) and Joe (Sue). Also remembered by 9 great nieces and nephews.
Bill was a teacher, coach and volunteer. He was committed to everything he did. His enthusiasm was contagious. Bill valued physical activity - he was a 65-year member of the Y, regularly played squash and golfed at the Colonnade golf course, carrying his clubs every round. Bill loved nature - Camp Y on the Ottawa, canoeing, fishing and camping on Crotch Lake. Bill took pride in gardening and volunteered his time with Gardening Kingston. Bill lived the Catholic faith. He initiated and facilitated the Spiritual Inquiry group at St. Joseph’s Church.
There will be a visitation held at the James Reid Funeral Home 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Sunday November 10, and Monday November 11, 2019. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church (392 Palace Road, Kingston) on Tuesday November 12, 2019 at 11am with right of committal with prayers at Cataraqui Cemetery to follow.
