We were greatly saddened to learn of the loss of Sues.
We have many fond memories of our experiences with Sues as part of our combined family over the past years. The Pearson family experienced the great loss of our mother during our university years, and it was a delight when sometime later, Jack and Sues found a common connection and true affection for each other. They married in 1979 and first resided in Toronto, where Bill completed high school. Thereafter they re-located to Kingston to ‘the cottage’ on Old Front Road. It is here that we experienced our regular extended family dinners on Sunday nights and shared many other meaningful and joyous occasions. Birthdays were a particularly enjoyable ritual, memorialized by multiple candle-blowing action images. Christmas at the cottage began with loading the tree in the living room to the point that presents spread far beyond and into the main room. There was barely room for all to sit when Santa distributed the gifts.
Through Patty’s equestrian business, Mary Reid’s move from Edmonton and establishing her accounting practice here in Kingston, to Bill setting out in his own software business and Dave expanding his creative and successful investment management, Sues played an important role. She was engaged with and delighted by her children and grandchildren. Dave was also instrumental in helping Dad and Sues invest in real estate, something which made our father very proud and allowed him to enjoy a sense of financial accomplishment.
Sues took a particular interest in each of her grandchildren. Her love and affection for Kate, Matt, Janet, Maggie, Lucas, Douglas, Marcus, Christopher, Teddy, Sam and later Simon and Leah was clear. Sues found a way to creatively meet the needs of others in a thoughtful, proactive and generous manner.
Dad and Sues were fortunate to be able to travel widely and their choices belied an interest in humanitarian causes and the environment. Sues, a prolific photographer, inevitably returned with beautiful images. Like her son, Dave, she enjoyed following horse racing and she was an ardent gardener. Additionally, she had a deep commitment to the Andy Fund which raised significant amounts to benefit medical care in Kingston. The annual Christmas shop was not to be missed! As a couple, they also donated generously to many other charitable causes.
Sues was a kind, extremely intelligent and courageous person. We have been blessed to be a part of her life and will miss her dearly.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences at this time of great loss.
