Obituary of Robert "Roy" Morrison
Morrison, Robert Neil (Roy)
Peacefully in his sleep with his wife by his side after an 8 month struggle with the effects of a stroke last May, Roy passed away on December 23, 2018 in his 88th year. Survived by Doreen (nee Henry) dearly loved wife of 59 years, sons Neil (Prudence) and Ian (Ingrid), daughter Cynthia Marchand (Brett), grandchildren Scott, Ryan, Spencer, Cole, Alison (Allie) and Kyle and step-grandsons Rupert, Sebastian and Hugo. Predeceased by sister Elizabeth (Betty) Thouret. A graduate of McGill University (B.Eng.), gold medalist in Mechanical Engineering, and a Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College, Oxford (M.A.), Roy worked first as a Consulting Engineer and then as Assistant to the President of Dupont before joining five other professors to set up McGill University’s first Graduate School of Business in 1962. Roy served on the Board of Governors of McGill University, the boards of Inotech Aviation and Peacock Inc. in Montreal, of Kingston General Hospital in Kingston and of the Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque. Roy was known for his business acumen, his cheerful disposition and sense of humour. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Heartfelt thanks go to Dr. Louis Kennedy and the staff of Breakwater at Arbour Heights Residence for their good care and kind support. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on January 7, 2019 at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, Ontario.
