I had the pleasure of meeting Wendy earlier this year when I joined OARC as their new Education and Home Support team member. As OARC Board Director, Wendy welcomed me with open arms when I came for a tour of her home this summer. She was brimming with enthusiasm and pride about her rich life experiences and her family, as well as her involvement on her home's Residents' Council and with OARC. I spent time with her on two occasions last month, where she continued to impress upon me the passion she had for working with our organization to enhance the quality of life for everyone living in long term care. She shared with me, "I want to see that we older people have a little fun, and a little mischief in our lives, and that we try to do as much helpful work as we can for each other..." This message, and the joy through which it was expressed, will remain with me always. Thinking of the Thorburn family during this time of loss.
