On Wednesday Dec 5, 2018, about 11.30 pm a wonderful gentleman, husband and father peacefully slipped the bonds of earth and soared into heaven to become an Angel; Donald Stewart McKay Aberdeen age 94 of Queensland, Australia, Kingston, and Godfrey, Ontario.
He spent his life with his beloved wife Enid May (Richardson) Aberdeen of Queensland Australia. They were devoted to one another and rarely apart. He leaves son Geoff (Carol), daughters Robyn (Tim) and Anne; granddaughters Blaine, Heather, and Amanda. He's predeceased by his son Kim. He was a proud Australian and World War 2 RAAF Veteran. He believed in community and volunteered all his life, from his war service, to Boy Scout leader, Hinchinbrook volunteer firefighter, and canvasser for United Way. He was a chemical engineer at CIL, loved his Elbow Lake cottage and canoeing, and was a very proud sheep farmer in Godfrey. Always a gentleman, always a smile and a glint in his eye. Completely adored, he will be deeply missed. In his memory gifts to United Way would be appreciated.
Friends will be received at JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Tuesday, December 11 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 12 from 10:00 – 10:50 with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. a reception will be held following the service in the James Reid Reception Centre. A celebration of his life will take place in March 2019.
Now in heaven, he is Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing forever he will be.
