Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" G. Cotter

COTTER, Elizabeth "Betty" G.
Betty passed away peacefully at Providence Manor on Friday, October 12, 2018, age 87 years.  Betty (nee Adams), is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James Cotter and her children James Cotter Jr., Susan Cotter and Kathleen Bailey (Ken).  Affectionately known as "Grammy" to her cherished grandsons, Carter and Caleb.  Also surviving are her younger sister, Barbara Little, nephews Neil Muchmore (Ann), Mark Little (Dawn), Cameron Hay and niece Bonnie Burley.  Betty was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Margaret (nee Wilkinson) Adams, sister Mary Muchmore and nephew Matthew Little.  Betty was born in Montreal on September 5, 1931, however she was raised on Amherst Island.  She graduated from Kingston General Hospital School of Nursing in 1954 and continued to work there on Victory 3.  In later years, she went back to school and was employed at Amherstview Medical Clinic until her retirement.  Betty was faithful, hard-working and never complained.  She was always known as the lady with the perpetual smile.  Everyone who knew her recognized her laugh from miles away.  Her passions, other than her family, were playing cards and bridge and books.  She enjoyed "Bridge Night" with the ladies and could manage to spend hours reading!  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed.  The family extends sincere gratitude to all of Betty's caregivers at Providence Manor for their kindness and compassion. Cremation in the care of James Reid Crematorium.  A Memorial Reception will be held in the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, RECEPTION AND CELEBRATION CENTRE, 1900 John Counter Boulevard (please enter from the rear parking lot), on Monday, October 15 between the hours of 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Kingston, in Mrs. Cotter's memory.
