Day, Arnold Calvin
On September 27, 2018, Arnold completed his life journey in his ninety-fifth year at Arbour Heights Long Term Care Home, where he had been a resident for the past eight months.
Arnold is predeceased by his spouse, Noreen O’Neill, his sisters, Gladys Clarke (Clare), Grace Colquhoun (Ross) his brothers, Collamer (Joan), Warren (Joan), his parents, Hugh and Catherine (Wartman) Day, his niece Susan Day and his nephew Rick Wighton.
Arnold is survived by his nieces Sandy Evans (Rod), Toby Covell (Dan), Wendy White (Mike), Cinda Wighton (Carl Buwalda), Debbie Willette (Eric Kargus) and his nephew Ron Day and many grand nieces and nephews.
Arnold is also survived by members of the O’Neill family, Noreen’s sisters, Celine Breen, Patricia Forte, Bernadette and Leona O’Neill.
From a very early age Arnold developed an understanding of physical mechanics and applied this skill as he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. After the war, Arnold was employed at Clifton Ceramics Ltd. and Frontenac Tile Works. Following his retirement Arnold became known as an accurate diagnostician as he assisted those who came to him in need of repairs for small engines, lawn mowers and snow blowers.
He needed no publication of his ability as his reputation preceded him in the community. His presence in that community has been sorely missed during this past year. Throughout the years Arnold was grateful for his neighbours and friends, especially, Dave Woolcox and Leon Garrett for their presence.
Sincere appreciation is extended to the staff of Arbour Heights who cared for and about Arnold. Dr. Kennedy is sincerely thanked for his guidance and steadfast presence to Arnold and his family. Friends and relatives will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Tuesday, October 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, October 3 at 1:30 p.m.. Interment Cataraqui Cemetery. All are welcome to gather for a reception in the James Reid Reception Centre following interment.
