Obituary of Marilyn Anne Mellor

MELLOR, Marilyn Anne
RN KGH- 1954
Anne passed away peacefully in the hospital after a lengthy illness.  She is survived by her loving husband Wally, her three children, Laurie, Rick and Jeff (Maureen), and granddaughter Caitlin.  Her nursing career included nursing at St. Lawrence College and the Neo-Natal ward at KGH.
Anne was born in Niagara-on-the-Lake.  During the war years she spent three years on P.E.I. with her mom and dad (Jim and Dorothy Williams).  Jim was flying out of Summerside with the R.C.A.F.  After the war the family moved to Kingston.  Anne and Wally met in 1952, and so began a wonderful life together.  Wally's first teaching position brought them to Ottawa.  Ten years later, Anne, Wally, and family spent ten months in beautiful Oregon where Wally went back to University.  In 1968 the family moved back to Anne's beloved Kingston where Wally began a new career at Queen's.  In 1978 the Mellor family (with help of many friends), re-constructed a Log Home at Mont. Ste. Marie, QC.  For 35 years Anne hosted over 650 over-night guests (many repeats).  Many friends will recall feasting on Anne's glorious soups.  Anne loved Mont Ste. Marie, but in her later years Kingston was more and more on her mind.  Anne and Wally moved back to Kingston in 2007.  Anne spent her last 11 years enjoying Golden Gaels football games, dinners out, short trips to Picton, the 1000 Islands venues, and cruises with Wally.
The family would like to thank Dr. Laura Milne, her medical team, and all the personnel at KGH for their kindness and care in Anne's final days.
Anne was a great nurse, a loving wife, a caring mother and a friend to many.  She will be deeply missed
She was a loyal football fan for 71 years, and in lieu of flowers she has requested that memorial contributions may be made to Queen's University in support of the Football Program in memory of Anne Mellor.  Cheque is payable to Queen's University in memory of Anne Mellor listed on the memo line.  If you'd like Queen's to notify Anne's family of your gift, please include the following note: "notify the family".  Send to Queen's University, Attn: Allison Slopack, 284 Earl Street, Kingston, ON, K7L 3N6.  Or visit https://www.givetoqueens.ca/annemellor to donate.
