Robert Keele Jr.

Obituary of Robert Conway Keele Jr.

Robert Conway Keele Jr. (13 February 1954 - 14 August 2018). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert after a brief, but valiant, battle with cancer.  Predeceased by his father, Robert C Keele Sr, he will be greatly missed by his mother, Doreen, his brothers Guy (Margo), Howard (Lynda) and Philip and sisters Ainsley (Mark) and Andrea (John), his nieces Keshia (James) and Jaqueline and nephews Strahan (Lynn), Matthew (Evelyne) and Michael. Confucius said, "choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life". After a brief foray with the Canadian Navy Robert did just that, becoming a professional stand-up comedian. (Robert would have inserted a joke of some sort here, notwithstanding his utmost respect for his Navy colleagues.)  He absolutely loved stand-up and worked his way up to headliner status performing throughout Canada and the UK.  He left comedy around 2004. Of all the things he missed about stand-up comedy, and there were many, it was his fellow comedians that he missed the most. A shout out to all of you. Robert spent the last decade looking after our parents. After our father passed in 2015 he provided outstanding care to our mother.  A few Thank-Yous are in order. As a family there are not enough words to thank William (Bill) Godkin (Darlene) for his incredible support to Robert this trying last month. Thank you to Falyn Jensen for her unwavering support in his final days. Thank you to Kathi Colwell, Providence Care for enabling the critical transition to KGH. We would also like to thank the outstanding doctors, nurses and support personnel at the KGH palliative care unit, in particular Dr. Kain and Dr. Webber as well as nurses Sherri and Annette. We are humbled by your brilliance, dedication and caring.  The internment ceremony will be a private family affair. A celebration of his incredible life will be announced at a later date via Facebook. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Partners in Mission Food Bank would be appreciated.
