Obituary of James Herbert Brown
Brown, James Herbert Queens Science '50, MSc ScD MIT '58, Professor Emeritus Queen's University.
Peacefully, on June 3, in his 89th year, following an extended stay in the KGH Cardiac Unit. Beloved husband for 65 years to Dorothy (nee Bradley). Sadly missed by his brother Gerry of Virginia, children Bradley (Nancy), Christian, Timothy (Anne) and Julia (David), and six grandchildren.
Jim had a love of life; of teaching and learning and of conceptualizing and building. His summers were enjoyed on the Big Rideau Lake, winters in their wooded haven in East Kingston. He found joy in these places, and spending time with his family and working on a project. And there was always a project in the works…
Following Jim's wishes, Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral or celebration of life. His preference was to have a party -preferably with him present, but alternatively raising a glass on his behalf. The family and close friends will honour his wishes in private -at the cottage, during the summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the UHKF, in support of the Kingston Health Sciences Centre would be appreciated by the family. The care and compassion that Jim experienced during his stay was second to none, and the Davies 3 Nursing and Care staff should be recognized for their support, professionalism, gentle care and compassionate attention to his needs. Expressions of sympathy to the family can be sent to 37 Robert Wallace Dr. Kingston, ON K7M 1X7.
