Dennis Coughtrey “Buddy”

Coughtrey, John Dennis – Kingston resident and business owner, died peacefully after a valiant struggle with various illnesses in his final years. Dennis age 75 preceded by parents Jack and Muriel, survived by his loving wife Rosemarie (Mayer) and their children Rennie (Andy) Ledoux and Brian (Olivia) Coughtrey and seven grandchildren (Adrian and Andie Ledoux, Cutler, Devan, Christiaan, Dexter and Quentin Coughtrey). Dennis was born in London Ontario and raised in Kingston with his loving parents Muriel and Jack Coughtrey. He met Rosemarie 55 years ago, which resulted it in a 52 year marriage and lifetime partnership of love and dedication. Their union provided the stability and strength to persevere and succeed while running a seasonal business.

Dennis provided for his family through his pool construction companies, and various farming adventures. Horses, cows, goats, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens... and thousands of rabbits... adventures indeed. He was considered by all to be an honest and straight shooting business man. He had many long-term employees exemplifying his fairness and compassion as a local employer.

Dennis was a dedicated father, and afforded a variety life experiences for his family including horseback riding, motorized mayhem and a variety of sports. His strong work ethic and hands-on approach has had a profound impact on his children and provided inspiration to his grandchildren.

“Buddy”, affectionately nicknamed by his grandchildren, was actively involved in various activities as they grew up including concerts, basketball, soccer, football, swimming and baseball. He was always there to provide encouragement and motivation. His retirement years spent on Collins lake provided a venue for boating, fishing and catching frogs with his grandchildren.

Dennis was a doting husband, a loving father and a good man. He will be missed by many.
