Obituary of Henry Lee
Henry (Kwok Ching) Lee, 92, (October 1, 1925 - May 1, 2018) passed away peacefully at the Providence Manor with family at his side. Survived by his loving wife Loretta (Ngan How) Lee, Brother-in-law Pak Yat (Ping) Wong and beloved father to Willy Lee, Sally (Kong) Lo, Tom (Ramona) Lee, Joan (James) Lee, Betty (Francois) Lee-Daigle; treasured Gung Gung to Timothy, Elizabeth, Rebecca (Maziar) and Jonathan Lo, Benjamin and Emma Lee, Meghan (Dex) Fitzpatrick, Christiaan (Samantha), Mialynn and Sebastien Lee-Daigle and cherished Bak Gung to Lukas and David Sauber.
Henry was born in Sun Wui, China emigrating in 1948 to join his father in the fabled "Gim Sun" (Golden Mountain) of Canada at the Roy York Restaurant which was the humble beginning for a successful livelihood as partner/owner of many popular Chinese restaurants: David's Lunch, House of Shanghai, Golden Dragon and Rickshaw Restaurant which welcomed many customers and friends. He believed in the importance of education by contributing to the construction of a high school in Sun Wui, China and giving back to the broader Chinese community. In retirement, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower garden, travelling with Loretta to exotic locales and contributing actively to the Chinese Canadian Association of Kingston and District.
Friends will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 1900 John Counter Blvd. Visitation on Friday, May 25th, 2018 from 5-7 pm and Saturday, May 26th from 10-11 am until time of service. Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at 11 am. Reception to follow with interment at Cataraqui Cemetery. Memorial donation to the Kingston Chinese Alliance Church and/or Kingston Community Foundation would be appreciated.
