Obituary of Mary Esther Baker

BAKER, Mary Esther (nee Machum)

Resident of The Waterford Retirement Residence, passed away peacefully, with family by her side at Kingston General Hospital on Monday April 30th, at age 93.  Mary was born on November 16, 1924 in New Jerusalem, Queens Co., New Brunswick to Harry and Annie Machum (Kirkpatrick). We are comforted in knowing that Mary is now reunited with Henry (“Hank”) - her loving husband of 69 years (DOD 24/APRIL/2015). She was predeceased by brothers Eldon Machum, Royden Machum, Ronald Machum and sister Evelyn Bolster-Seheult.  Survived by sister Verna Kirk (Late Ronald), of St. John, New Brunswick.  She will be sadly missed by daughter Jacqueline Ward (Doug) of Shelburne NS., twin sons Dr. H. Harlyn Baker (Irmgild) of Los Altos, California & Royce Baker of Pickering ON - and son Gregory (Cynthia) of Kingston ON.  Her love was felt by everyone who were blessed to have her in their life, including her grandchildren Kensey Garlick (Aaron) of Waterdown, ON., Ashley Baker (Robert Guenther) of Oakville, ON., Alexandra Baker of Los Altos, California, Jordan Baker of London, ON, and Brittany Baker of Kingston, ON.  Mary was a special great grandmother to Carter & Brooklyn Garlick and Gracyn Guenther.  Step grandmother to Erin (Brent) Nickle of Kingston, Patrick (Brooke) Malloy of Milton & step great grandmother of Ava Nickle and Grayson & Harper Malloy.  She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

With meticulous focus on detail & a crisp mind her entire life - Mary had boundless passion.  She was a top performing Avon representative, an award winning needle-pointer, a tenacious genealogical sleuth, an extraordinary doll collection curator, a past president of the London Victoria Hospital Auxiliary - but her highest personal commitment was always reserved for time with her beloved “Hank”, her family and celebrating her loved ones personal achievements.  Thank you Mary for gifting us with your love.
