Obituary of Winifred Moira Drummond
DRUMMOND, Winifred Moira
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Moira Drummond at Centennial Place Nursing Home in Millbrook, Ontario, with loving daughters by her side on Thursday, August 17, 2017. In her 100th year of life, she was predeceased by husband Douglas. Loving mum of Norrey Drummond (Lou Carcasole) and Lesley (Brady) McCrindle. Remembered with love by brother Michael (Patricia), grandchildren Jennifer (Chris), Simon, Lucianna (Mat), Kimberly, Lauren (Steve), Justin, Beth, Frazer and Sophie, and great grandchildren Rebecca, Zane, Otis, Henry and Emily, and nieces and nephews. Moira was a brilliant, talented and beautiful woman, artist and caregiver. Born in Cadder, Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1918, she started her nursing career in Oswestry during WWII, married her RCAF fighter pilot husband, then continued as a nurse in many departments at Kingston General Hospital, followed by a number of years as a public health nurse in Kingston area. She touched the lives of many through her volunteer work with the Rideau Trail Association, teaching art classes at the Kingston Seniors Association, running the Widows Outreach Network - to name just a few. She devoted her life to enriching those of others - both family and strangers - and tried to spend as much of hers as possible in her favourite place: the outdoors. In keeping with her wishes, there will be an interment of ashes at the Cataraqui Cemetery, followed by a casual gathering of family and friends at the Outdoor Centre of the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area on Monday, September 11. Those wishing specific details, please contact Lesley at eyeyo44@gmail.com or 705-934-3164. Donations to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or Cataraqui Conservation Foundation (for environmental education for youth) can be made by contacting the James Reid Funeral Home in Kingston.
