Obituary of Rowena Abigail Foote
Rowena Abigail (“Abby”) Foote, 48 years of age, passed away on May 28th, 2017 at her home in Kingston, Ontario.
Abby was born on April 20th, 1969 in Craig Village, EBD, Guyana to parents Tyrone McCarthy Foo and Elaine Carmelita Foo (nee Harris). Sixth born of seven children, Abby was the beloved sister of Dennis, Paul, Denise, Nicholas, Vincent, and Jason. Abby met the love of her life, Robert John Foote, in 1991 and they were married the following year. Their first child, Andre Terrence Robert, was born in 1994, followed by Angeline Ayanda Elizabeth in 1996.
In 1997 Abby and her young family moved from Georgetown, Guyana to Ottawa, Canada where they lived until 2000. From Ottawa, they moved to Africa including Accra, Ghana (2000-2004), Lilongwe, Malawi, (2004-2010) and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In 2014 the family moved to Kingston, Ontario. Abby’s last international destination was Vietnam, where she established deep relationships with new friends in a remarkably short time.
Abby will be remembered for her steadfast faith, devotion to family, and ability to connect with people of all cultures and walks of life. Abby had an extraordinary sense of community and brought people together wherever she lived. She was a talented artist, and thrived on learning new crafts and imparting to others the skills she had acquired. Her products were always a labour of love. Though Abby lived in a variety of different countries and cultural contexts, she remained true to her Christian family values and the simple pleasures in life. Wherever she lived she was actively involved with charitable causes and was respected greatly for her selflessness, leadership and commitment to helping others. She was proud of her home and her family, and nurtured enduring relationships with so many friends and families around the world.
May Abby’s life, her courage, her faith, and her ability to see God’s blessings in every day serve as an inspiration to us all.
