Obituary of Marie Adeline Moir

MOIR, Marie Adeline
(nee Anderson) -
Sept. 22, 1925-May 16, 2017.
After a short illness, at the Kingston General Hospital, Marie was once again united with her husband, Robert Young Moir (d. Feb. 13, 1996).  Survived by her children, James Robert (Natalie), Lynn Marie D'Alton (John) and Michael Edward (Sara).  Fondly remembered by her beloved grandchildren, Sarah (Eric) and Alex (Allison) D'Alton, Robert and Andy Moir and many nieces, nephews and grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Loving sister of Ken (Shirley) Anderson.  Predeceased by her parents, Edward William (Will) Anderson (1965) and Florence Yocom (1973), her brothers Wallace (1986), Ross (1963),Ted (KIA, 1942), and sister Amy Cullen (2003). Marie was an active member of the Kingston music scene: life member of ORMTA, organizer and co-ordinator for the Kiwanis Music Festival for many years, contralto soloist in the Kingston Choral Society and at Sydenham St. United Church, private vocal teacher and adjunct professor in the Queen's University Music Department. Her legacy lives on in the many music students she encouraged and fostered.  Thank you to the nurses and doctors of the ICU and Connell 10 at KGH for their care of our mother in her final days.  She slipped away peacefully thinking of beloved family and friends and with thoughts of her favorite place, the cottage.  A private family graveside service for Marie will take place at Cataraqui Cemetery. A Memorial Reception will be held at the JAMES REID RECEPTION CENTRE,1900 John Counter Blvd.,on Saturday, June 10, between the hours of 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. where the family will welcome your reminiscences. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Kingston Kiwanis Music Festival - Moir Memorial Award Trust Fund, P.O. Box 883, Kingston, ON, K7L 4X8 or to the R.Y. Moir Memorial Scholarship in Chemistry at Queen's University.
