Obituary of Scott M. McCabe
McCABE, Scott Munro – After a brief crisis and a long struggle, the family is sad to announce the passing of Scott, who passed away surrounded by close family at KGH on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the age of 45.
Scott’s early career was with his first love, music. He played mellophone, piano, guitar and bass guitar during high school in Bridgewater New Jersey. After graduation, he moved with his family to Kingston and played guitar and bass guitar professionally for a few years and studied computer science at the Toronto School of Business graduating at the top of his class. He worked as a programmer with Beach Grove in Kingston before being recruited by 3D realms in Dallas Texas as a developer of computer games. He returned to Kingston where he was employed by Calian working in computer experimentation. Most recently he worked with Media Design School in Auckland NZ.
In June of 2016, he returned to Kingston due to health issues.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Ridley McCabe-Pascal; his parents, Elaine and Gary McCabe; and family and friends in Canada, New Jersey and New Zealand. A special thank you to the KGH nurses and Doctors on Connell 10 and the ICU. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 2:00pm at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, 130 Lakeview Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Scott’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Liver Foundation.
