Obituary of Dr. John Douglas Boadway
BOADWAY, John Douglas -
of Kingston, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Rideaucrest Home in Kingston in his 95th year. Son of the late Norman Douglas and Maude Emmeline (Peg), John was born in Collingwood, Ontario. After graduation from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree, he worked with Shawinigan Chemicals and then with the Consolidated Paper Company in Trois Rivières working on pulp and paper machines and vortex clarifiers before moving to Kingston to complete his Master and PhD degrees at Queens University. John took the position of Assistant Professor, then Associate Professor at Queens, teaching Civil Engineering from 1966 through to retirement in 1987 and continued research and patent filings related to hydro-cyclones in the separation of gas, fine suspended particles and oil from water. John was always interested in his kids and golf, curling, fishing, singing and photography. John is survived by his second wife of 17 years, Simone, his children Richard, Anne and John and grandson Cyrus, Simone's children Andre, Diane, Pierre, Jacquie and Michelle and their families, nieces Janet, Peggy, Nancy (Kilgour) and Mary (Breen). We all love him dearly. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary, granddaughter Klara (Boadway) and sister Mary (Kilgour). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cataraqui Cemetery with Reverend Andrew Chisholm officiating.
