Obituary of Katherine Crothers
CROTHERS, Katherine - "I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree" W.B. Yeats Crothers, Mary Katherine (nee Connell) in her 94th year at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Only daughter of the late Dr. Hendry Cameron Connell and Katie Connell (Reid). Dear sister of the late James Connell and survived by her younger brother, Hendry Connell. Predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Robert John Crothers and survived by her four children, Katherine Leverette (John), Robert (Kathleen), Gordon (Elizabeth) and Sandy (Sharon). Adored grandmother of James Waugh (Sarah), John Waugh (Jill), Samara (Chris), Maddie, Max, Daniel (Kate) and Will Crothers, step-grandmother of Megan and Adam (Sunhwa), great-grandmother of Ava, Tessy and Fiona and four great-step granddaughters, Daelyn, Aubrey, Tatum and Jina. Nanna could find a four-leaf clover in any lawn, was a passionate fisherperson, avid swimmer, skater, sailor, gardener, author of two books ("With Tender Loving Care: A Story of the KGH School of Nursing" and "The Enzyme Solution: The Story of Ensol") and an accomplished artist. She taught us to be kind, generous, loving and responsible. Katherine graduated from the KGH School of Nursing in 1944 and served a term as President of the KGH Nurses Alumni. She worked to help establish the Queen's Clinical Learning Centre. Her home was always welcoming to friends of all generations, even when strangers thought her house was the Kingston Yacht Club and walked right in. With extraordinary gratitude, the family wishes to thank neighbour and friend, Debbie Loder, and Tracey Ling for constant caring and support. Dr. Nick Cristoveanu and staff, Dr. Natalie Kondor and staff and the incredible St. Mary's Palliative Care Team. A celebration of life will be held at the Kingston Yacht Club on Saturday, March 11, from 4-6 p.m.
