Obituary of Frances Blachford
BLACHFORD, Frances “Fran” (nee Howard)
June 22, 1920 – January 1, 2017
Surrounded by family, Fran peacefully left us New Year’s morning in Carleton Place, Ontario. Born in Saint John, NB to Robert B. and Pearl Howard, Fran deeply mourned the loss of her brother Robert J. during World War II. Fran was the loving wife of the late Mel (his family: Judy Sturgeon, Brian Duncan and Heather Riteman). Also predeceased by family Jeanne (Alex Ingram) and Darrell Ingram. Her loving family left to celebrate her life and miss our Matriarch’s amazing sense of humour are Graham (Kerry) Ingram; Bonney (John) Green; Rory (Margo-Kenna) Ingram; Garth (Sue) Ingram; Ron (Ana) Ingram; Karen (Andrew) Valley; Deborah (Sam) Green; Jennifer Green; Sarah-Marie (Cole Kavanaugh) Ingram; Ken (Katie Letts) Ingram; Ashley Ingram; Rafiq Awad, and baby-to-be Lachlan. Fran was a member of Zion United Church, Beta Sigma Phi, a Registered Nurse from the Saint John, NB class of 1943 and a long time employee of Kingston General Hospital. The family wishes to thank Kingston General Hospital; St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital; the Carleton Place Terrace and the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care of Fran these past six weeks. Friends may visit Sunday, January 8, 2017, at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, Kingston, Ontario, at 1:00 pm until a celebration of Fran’s life at 2:00 pm, followed by a small reception. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Fran’s memory to one of her preferred charities: the Robert J. Howard Scholarship Fund; Wycliffe Bible Translators of Canada, or Zion United Church. Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot of Fern Hill Cemetery in Saint John, New Brunswick.
