JARDINE, Dorothea
Dorothea, the youngest daughter of Adolf and Else Geist, was born in Züttlingen, Germany on May 4, 1937. She moved to Canada in 1958 to start a new life and family, and died at home in Kingston on December 27, 2016. Music was always an essential part of her life. Dorothea had a lovely clear soprano voice and sang in church choirs and in the Cecilian Consort, a lively Kingston madrigal group. As an adult she learned to play the flute and was a flautist in the Kingston Symphony for many years. She shared her love of music as the flute teacher for dozens of young Kingston musicians. Dorothea was a long-standing member of the congregation of St. George’s Cathedral and enjoyed many years of volunteering with the cathedral’s Projects Group. In 1982 Dorothea married Don Jardine. Together they built a new home and shared many memorable boating holidays in Georgian Bay, the Bahama Islands, and closer to home. She joined Don at the University Club at Queen’s and enjoyed volunteering at many of the events they attended. Dorothea is survived by her loving husband Don, her daughter Christine Haggarty and husband Dan, her son Tal Wolf and wife AnnMarie, Don’s daughter Jennifer Jardine, son Peter Jardine and partner Nancy Zeppa, and by her grandchildren Chelsea Wolf, Mitchell Wolf, and Jessica Jardine.
