Obituary of Joan Helen Butler

BUTLER, Joan Helen Peacefully, surrounded by love, at Arbour Heights Long Term Care, on Friday, December 23, 2016. Joan (nee Fox), in her 86th year, predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Walter Eric Butler (August 2016). Dear mother of David (Amelia), Bob (Carolyn) and Ron (Laurie), all of Kingston. Affectionately known as "Nan" to her adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by siblings Ken, Gerald, Norman, Jack, Gloria and predeceased by siblings Harold, Bob, Donald, Bricky (Beatrice), Eleanor and Lavergne. Remembered fondly by her nieces and nephews. The family extends sincere gratitude to all of Joan's caregivers at Arbour Heights for the compassion and care they provided. In accordance with Joan's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel of the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Thursday, December 29 at 2:00 pm, with Majors Wil and Catherine Brown-Ratcliffe officiating. Inurnment at Cataraqui Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 1:50 pm, and during a reception in the Reception Centre following the service. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to The Salvation Army (Kingston Citadel) or The Heart and Stroke Foundation, in memory of Mrs. Butler.
