Obituary of Winston Kenneth Truman
TRUMAN, Winston Kenneth (Ken), in his 95th year, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on December 13, 2016. Dad now joins the love of his life and wife of 66 years, the late Grace Edith (nee: Monk). He will be sadly missed by his loving children, Nancy, Richard (Paula), Douglas (Dawn) and Alan (Laurie), his Grandchildren, Kenneth (Emilie), Sarah (Eric), Jennifer (Dean), Emily, Carson, Trisha (Lawrence) and Great Grandchildren, Charlie, Olivia Joy and Noah. He will also be missed by his loving sister, Jessica Knight and many Nieces and Nephews. Dad was a proud World War II Veteran, joining the Army in 1939. He retired from the Armed Forces in 1966 and worked for the Penitentiary Services until retiring in 1982.
He and Mom loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Europe and down south. He loved his family, Coronation Street, Lawrence Welk and the sport of Boxing. He was a great man and a True Gentleman. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
The Truman family would like to thank Dr. Gregg's team at the KGH Cancer Clinic (especially Dr. Ostic), the caring Doctors and Nurses at St. Elizabeth (CCAC), Veterans Affairs Canada for all their support and help, and the fantastic, wonderful Staff and Nurses at The Rosewood Retirement Home. Dad could not have been in a better place for his last months.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home Reception Centre, 1900 John Counter Blvd. (please enter from the rear parking lot) on Friday, December 30, 2016, from 5:00p.m - 7:00p.m. Donations to The War Amps would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
