Obituary of Sandra Helen Brooks

BROOKS, Sandra Helen (Sandy), (Sissy)

Retired Physiotherapist KGH and St. Mary’s

1949 – 2016

After a fifth go round with cancer, Sandy, beloved wife of the late John Harvey, passed away at KGH on Dec. 13, with her devoted partner, Legacy, at her side. Most sincerely loved sister and best friend of Phyllis and Barry Miners. Very special aunt of Darra (Andrew) and Andy (Christine). Fantastic great-aunt to Katie and Ali Miners and William and Aylen Palmer. Sandra attended The Ontario School for the Blind, the RNIB School of Physiotherapy in London England and Queen’s. She will be missed by her very close school friends, many friends in the USA and the UK. She will be remembered by “The Kehoe cousins” and “The Brooks cousins” in Bracebridge and “the Lloyd cousins” in B.C. Formerly a Sweet Adeline, Sissy had a passion for music, especially “the oldies”. She loved shopping and travelling. Many thanks to Sandy’s good friend Vicky, the special people at The Shipyards and the “great gang” of retired physios from KGH and St. Mary’s who have supported Sandy and Legacy over the years. Thank you as well to the special staff on the Palliative Care Team and Kidd 9. A celebration of life, a time to celebrate Sissy and her love of family, friends, life, "oldies", and shopping will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 1-4 pm at Gibson Hall, Christ Church Parish Centre, 990 Sydenham Road, Kingston. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to The Seeing Eye (www.SeeingEye.ca); a dog training facility of your choice; UHKF (Palliative Care Team at KGH), or a charity of your choice.
