Died at Kingston General Hospital, Friday November 11th, 2016, at the age of 86, with his wife and son beside him. Dear husband for over 58 years of Jennifer (Crick). Loving father of Allan (1962 to 2012) and David (Michele Holowachuk). Beloved grandfather of Clara and Ian. He is survived by his elder brother, James, and predeceased by his younger brother, Robert, England. His early experiences in British Archaeology led to a long career in Classical Archaeology. After teaching at the University of Birmingham, England, for two years, and the University of Toronto, for one year, he came to Kingston. He taught Classics and Archaeology at Queen's University from 1964 to 1993, spending his summers doing field work and participating in excavations in prehistoric archaeology in Greece, with a special emphasis on Mycenaean prehistory and the archaeological background of Homer's Iliad. He had a wicked sense of humour, and a lifelong love of music. A memorial visitation will be held at JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard on Thursday, November 24, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 11:00am, reception to follow. If desired, donations may be made to the Margaret Elaine Reesor Memorial Fund for Classical Research, the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation, or to the Kingston Symphony Association, and would be greatly appreciated by the family
