Obituary of James Louis Mackey

Mackey, James Louis Sep. 13 1925 - Oct. 26 2016 Jim passed away peacefully in his sleep at KGH at the age of 91 after a lengthy illness. He will be sadly missed by his wife Phyllis, his children Barry Mackey (Lynne) and Martha Brough, grandchildren Jason (Carla), Robert (Brenda), Tim (Kim), Sean and great-grandchildren Declan, Landon, Jensen, Victoria and Dakota. Predeceased by his first wife Margaret (nee Porter), his parents John William Mackey and Louise (nee Fallon) and stepmother Mary Constance (nee Downey). Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Joseph (Agnes), Alphonse, Kathleen (Ernie), Alice (Bob), Mary (Jack), Annabelle (James). Jim was deeply respected and loved by his family and friends in the community. He was a lifelong devoted Catholic and in recent years attended Blessed Sacrament Church, Amherstview. He joined the RCR Regiment in London, ON and was shipped oveseas on the Mauretania to England. Upon discharge he joined the OPP and was posted to Fort Francis. After two years he returned to Kingston and joined the Kingston Police Dept. where he served 39 years and retired in 1986 with the rank of Inspector. He was a member of the Army Navy and Air Force Club. The family would like to thank his caregivers Patricia Jagoe, Sheila LeFort, Jackie Collett, Joanne Clark, Kelli Smith, John Pollock, Nathan Javier, Corey Parslow and Jean Morey for their love and devotion to Jim. Family and friends will be received at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Friday, October 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Liturgy of the word will be held in the chapel on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. Rite of committal with prayers at St. Mary's Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the MS Society, Blessed Sacrament Church, Amherstview or charity of choice in Jim's name would be appreciated by the family.
