Obituary of Gertrude Daoust

DAOUST, Gertrude "Trudy" It is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of Trudy at St Mary's of the Lake Hospital on September 29, 2016 at the age of 83. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta on November 8, 1932. Devoted wife of the late Jeannot "Joe" Daoust, who predeceased her in 2003. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Bonnie (Leo Marland) and grandchildren John, Annie and Cathy of Toronto, her extended family (Arcand) and friends in Edmonton and her many friends in Kingston. Trudy had a successful career at Alberta Government Telephones where she became a division manager. Trudy and Joe enjoyed several years of a wonderful retirement, spending the summers with family and friends in Devon, Alberta and wintering in Indio, California. After eight years in Quebec with Joe's extended family, they moved to Kingston in 2002. Her family and friends in Kingston, Edmonton and BC will fondly remember her young at heart spirit and her amazing kindness and generosity. Our family wish to extend our sincere thanks to the caring staff at ParaMed who made possible her final few weeks at home, especially Heather, Tara, Amanda, Alicia and Wendy B. We are deeply grateful to the incredible staff at the Palliative Care Unit at St Mary's of the Lake - especially social worker Mary Kratzer and nurses Maureen, Deanna and Jackie. Funeral Mass will take place at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 392 Palace Road, Kingston on Tuesday October 4th at 10:30 AM.
