WIGLE, Dr. Ronald Denis, M.D.
Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the age of 74. Loving husband and best friend of 50 years to the late Barbara Wigle. Dear father and father-in-law of Dr. Dennis Wigle and Dr. Nancy Radakovic, Jennifer and Kenrick Cross and Michael and Andrea Wigle. Proud grandfather of Joseph, Nathan, Abigail, Elizabeth, Morgan, Lauren, Evelyn, Penelope and Russell. Survived by his brother Gordon Wigle (wife Beverley). Ron graduated from Queen’s Medical School in 1965 and completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training at the Kingston General Hospital and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in respiratory medicine. He started working at KGH and Queen’s in 1971. There he started the respiratory division with Peter Munt and the first ICU at KGH with Dr. Fred Wright. Ron truly loved teaching students and housestaff and he received many awards for his clinical skills. He treasured every moment with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved living on the farm with Barbara, and enjoyed golfing and fishing throughout his life. A heartfelt thank you is extended to all the doctors, nurses and support staff at the Cancer Centre of Southeastern ON for their services, and most especially to his wonderful friends that have supported him over the last few years. Visitation will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. Kingston, on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:30am. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ronald’s memory may be made to Queen’s Medical School or to the charity of your choice.
