Hopkinson, William Ernest “Bill”

1943-2021

It is with great sadness that we share the passing at home on February 14, 2021, of William Ernest (Bill) Hopkinson in his 78th year. Loving and much-loved husband of Carol (Sherwood), loving and supportive father of Scott and Jeffrey. Bill was loved and will be missed by his dear brother Bob (Pym) and their daughters Alisa and Caryn and his Sherwood family Ted (Nancy) and their daughters Stacey, Lindsay and Kelli and Jim (Gail) and Melissa and his great-nieces and nephews who loved their “Uncle Bill”.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Dorene (nee Martin), his brother Terry and infant son Andrew.

Bill was the proprietor of Bill's Variety in Kingston for many years. Upon the closing of his business, he was employed at Bell Canada until his retirement. In retirement, Ted introduced Bill to the game of golf and it became his pastime for 3 seasons of the year. Many thanks to his golf buddies who called and lifted his spirits during his illness. Bill also enjoyed his friendships in several bowling leagues over the years.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held. Donations if desired would be appreciated at the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario in Kingston or the Canadian Cancer Society.
