MURPHY, Marie Annette

Peacefully at St. Patrick's Home in Ottawa, on Friday, January 29, 2021 in her 83rd year.  Marie Annette (nee Birrell), was predeceased by her loving husband Bernard Murphy.  Beloved mother of Shelli Smith and her husband Trevor of Ottawa. Affectionately known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren Anna and Ben Smith.  Marie is predeceased by her parents Lorne and Mildred Birrell.  Sadly missed by the Murphy family, all her dear and close friends, as well as her spiritual family at Faith United Church.  Marie had many interests which included socializing with her many friends, travel, playing bridge and watching sports. She contributed to her community as a volunteer at Kingston General Hospital. The family extends sincere gratitude to all of Marie's caregivers at her residence in Carlow House at St. Patrick's Home for their compassion and exemplary care provided to her. In accordance to the wishes of the family, a private service was held in the Chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home with Reverend Nan Hudson officiating. Cremation followed at James Reid Crematorium with interment beside her husband at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens at a later date.  As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to KGH Auxiliary or St. Patrick's Home of Ottawa Foundation, 2865 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, ON K1V 8N5, 613-731-4660 ext. 350, in Marie's memory.
