Obituary of Gordon Erskine Montgomery
Montgomery, Gordon
1932-2021
After a full and adventurous life, Gordon Montgomery sadly passed away on January 20, 2021 at the age of 88. Predeceased by his father Earl (aka Joe) Montgomery, mother Anna Montgomery (McNutt), sister Margot Carruthers, and wife of 39 years, Marion Montgomery (Mitchell). He is still loved and dearly missed by his daughter Michelle Montgomery, brother Peter Montgomery, nephews Gregory Foulkes (Julianne), Robert Foulkes (Suzanne) and several cousins. He will also be missed by numerous friends, including his former colleagues from St. Lawrence College, where he taught auto mechanics for 25 years, with whom he remained in touch even in retirement, and especially by all the neighbours from his nearly 50 years out on Nicholson's Point. Gord was always willing to offer a helping hand to everyone, and his love for racing, cars, and boats was only slightly matched in his final years by his "interest" in the weather and love of chocolate chip cookies. A special thank you goes to the staff at Helen Henderson Retirement Lodge for taking such good care of him in the last two years. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's society for, as he would say, "My memory isn't as good as it used to be."
