Obituary of William Thomas Wright
WRIGHT, William Thomas
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of William Thomas Wright at the age of 90.
Loving husband of Peggy (nee Parker) for 70 years.
Cherished father of children Sally (Jim), Nancy (Dan) and Ted (Gerry).
"Papa" as he was affectionately called, was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and leaves behind many treasured memories with Jennifer, Thomas, Laura, Tyler and Erica and his great grandchildren Claire, Elyse, Félix and
Marie-Geneviève.
Tom was a devoted aviator from an early age and, as an instructor, inspired countless others to share in this passion. Charters, pipeline inspections, flying a de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk, and being chosen to give World War II hero Sir Douglas Bader an aerial tour of Ottawa are some of the highlights of his career. Tom also participated in the family business, Eugene P. Wright and Sons of Gananoque, and retired after working several years at the Queen’s University Bookstore.
He always left his home impeccably dressed, and with an eye to the sky to check “the ceiling”. Tom was never more happy than when he was surrounded by his family, relaxing on the St. Lawrence River or in the company of a playful dog.
The family wish to thank the devoted staff of Extendicare Kingston for their care and support.
If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kingston Humane Society in Tom’s name.
Due to COVID-19, a private service will be held at Gananoque Cemetery.
