Obituary of Carol Elizabeth Honey

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Elizabeth Honey (Cox) in her 78th year, on 14 January 2021 at Arbour Heights Long Term Care Home Kingston, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Carol was born in Lindsay, raised in Fort Erie and graduated from the Mack Training School for Nurses in St. Catharines as a Registered Nurse. As a military wife, she lived and nursed in: Soest, West Germany; Camp Borden, ON; Oromocto, NB; Edmonton, AB; Burlington, ON; Chilliwack, BC; Trenton, ON; and finally here in Kingston. She enjoyed dancing, skating, and was an avid swimmer. She was also a competent 1st mate on sailing vessel Bear Pause.

Carol was predeceased by her father John Kenneth Cox. She is survived by her husband Dave, her mother Viesti Cox (in her 100th year), her sister Judy Cox, her daughters Dr Liisa Honey (Dr Doug Cochen),  and Lara Russell (Bob), as well as her grandchildren Emma, Liam, Nile and Elena. The family wishes to extent their gratitude to the staff at Arbour Heights who cared for Carol for the past 4 ½ years.

Cremation has taken place at James Reid Funeral Home.  Due to the current crisis, a celebration of life and interment at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa will be deferred. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
