Obituary of Giuseppa Cifala

Giuseppa Cifala (nee Costa)

 

Peacefully at home, Kingston, surrounded by the love of her family, Giuseppa passed away on November 13, 2020 at the age of 90.

 

Dearly cherished wife of Francesco Cifala, the love of her life, for 67 years. Beloved mother of Caterina (Angelo), Giovanna, Anita, Joseph (Michelle), Much loved grandmother of Anthony (Vagia), Marisa (David),Vanessa (Adriano), Angela (Phil), Vincenzo (Shannon) Caterina (Jason) Dante and Joey.

 

Dear sister of Maria (Kingston), Santina (Kingston), Ninetta (Kingston), predeceased by her loving siblings, Concetta (Kingston) Peter (Detroit), Santo (Italy), and Rosario (Kingston).

 

Giuseppa was born in Faro Superiore Italia, she immigrated to Canada in the early sixties and began a new life with Franceso.

 

Her life’s vocation centered around her family. With Francesco by her side, she raised four children and became an influential presence in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also instilled in both her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren a great love of and connection to their “Italian” heritage.

 

A special Thank you to the Palliative Care team, Dr. Allison Flannigan, nurses Hannah and Gabrielle (Para-med) whose gentle, patient and expert care allowed Giuseppa to die with peace and dignity in her home just as her beloved husband Francesco wished. She was dearly loved by her family who will miss her tremendously.

 

Due to Covid and its recent restrictions, a private family funeral service officiated by Monsignor Joseph Lynch, St. Joseph’s Catholic parish, will take place at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, on Tuesday November 17th, 2020. All are welcome to watch the service online by clicking on the link provided just below.  Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Division St.)
