Obituary of Antonia Russo
Passed away peacefully in Kingston on October 18, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband Antonio (1988). She will be in the hearts of her children Lucy Briceland, Gerry Wright (Ted), and Rick (Kelly Murphy). Antonia will be missed by her grandchildren Christina (Dimitri), Alexander, Tyler, Erica, Roan and Mary and her great-grandchild Aleissia. She will be remembered by her sister Maria of Kingston as well as her sisters Lucia, Ida, Giuseppina and her brother Gennaro all of Italy. Predeceased by her brother Vincenzo of Kingston and sisters Nina and Sofia of Italy.
Antonietta emigrated in 1956 from Italy joining her husband who had arrived two years earlier. She raised her three children learning English and quickly adapting to life in Kingston. She worked from her home as a dressmaker with many of her clients becoming lifelong friends including many members of the Sweet Adelines. Her passions were her children and especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchild all of whom she adored. She was always happiest surrounded by family and friends for whom she had just prepared an enormous and delicious home cooked meal. Visitors to her home never left without food, including a loaf of banana bread. She will be greatly missed and we will carry her love and generosity of spirit with us forever in our hearts.
