1933-2020
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Elwood Woodman of Wolfe Island, on Sept. 30th, 2020 at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband to the late Constance (nee Twynham). He will be lovingly remembered by his children; Robert “Bob” (Mary Jane), Brian (Diane), and Lois (Karl) Andrews. Adoring Grandpa/Pa to Matthew, Emily, Katherine (Kate), Justin and Stephen. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Karen Kyle, Brenda Woodman, his nieces, nephews and many friends. The family would like to thank all the amazing staff at Providence Care UHKF (Palliative Care) for their comforting care.
Elwood was born on Wolfe Island and grew up on his Grandpa and Grandma Niles’ farm at the foot of the island. As a young man he sailed on freighters on the Great Lakes. After returning to the island he began working on the Wolfe Island Ferry and continued there for over 30 years, becoming Ferry Captain with the Ministry of Transportation. He married his wife Connie in 1963 and they remained happily married for 49 years. After his retirement in 1993 he enjoyed looking after the cattle on his farm, but it was his family that he cherished. Spending time with his grandchildren gave him his greatest joy in life.
A Drive-Up Visitation will take place on Sunday October 4, 2020 from 4-7pm. This allows you to stay in
your vehicle or the option to exit your vehicle to pay your respects to the family with keeping 2 metres apart and Covid-19 protocols in effect. Drive-Up Visitation will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home
(1900 John Counter Blvd. Kingston, ON K7M 7H3). In honour of Elwood, a private graveside service for
family only will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wolfe Island United Church or the UHKF (Palliative Care) would be
greatly appreciated.
