It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Margarida Pacheco (nee DaSilva) at Extendicare Kingston with her family by her side, on Monday, August 3, 2020, in her 80th year.
Maria's most cherished moments was spending time with her grandchildren, Nicolas (Sara), Anthony and Maggie. Maria is survived by her children, Lloyd (Stephanie) and Nancy (Chris), beloved grandchildren and siblings Germana (Denis), Madelina (Manuel) and Jose (Joan). She is predeceased by her husband Manuel and sisters, Conceicoa (Jose) and Maria Dos Angos (Duarte). Maria will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Maria was born in Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and started a new chapter in her life, when she came to Canada in 1964. She worked in the dietary department at Providence Manor for over 30 years. She will be missed for her love of family, faith, sense of humour, kind and gentle spirit, generosity, empathy and compassion. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Extendicare Kingston.
Funeral arrangements in the care of JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY FAMILY PARISH (corner of Weller Avenue and Wiley Street), on Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at 11:00 am. Rite of Committal with Prayers to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or by Mass Offering.
Mandatory COVID 19 protocols are as follows: Attendance at the church is limited to 30% capacity with social distancing measures in place which will include seating for 30 guests. Guests MUST confirm their attendance at the funeral by calling James Reid Funeral Home at 613-544-3411 on Wednesday, August 5 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Wearing of masks is mandatory. Should you not have a mask, one will be supplied to you by the funeral home. Social distancing rules apply. The family, James Reid Funeral Home and Holy Family Church thank you for your co-operation.
