SYBIL RAE KELLY
(June 23, 1929 - July 5, 2023)
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Sybil Rae Kelly in her 95th year at Carveth Care Centre, Gananoque on July 5, 2023, she passed peacefully.
Sybil was much loved by her husband of 65 years John Kelly who predeceased her in 2015 and her beloved grandson Robert J. Hamilton who predeceased in 2017.
She was born in Kingston, the daughter of Leonard A. and Fannie V. (Bertrim) Black and was predeceased by them as well as four sisters, Marjorie (Edward Payne), Leona Black, Winnifred (John Coyle), Ethel (Edward McKenzie), two brothers, Harry Black and Edward Black (Jean)
She is survived by her daughter Carol Anne Cruise (Gary) of Kingston and several nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by great-nephew John McKenzie (Jenn).
Sybil attended Victoria Public School and graduated from KCVI. She worked as a teaching assistant at Perth Road Public school until she retired. Sybil loved outdoor activities and in her younger years she bundled up, even on the coldest of days, to skate on Buck Lake near the family home. In later years she and John enjoyed travel including several Caribbean cruises and an Alaska cruise. Sybil’s happiest times were always the annual picnics she and John hosted at their Buck Lake home for their extended family and friends.
Many thanks to the staff at Carveth Care Centre in Gananoque for the outstanding care and comfort they provided during Sybil’s final few years.
In accordance with Sybil’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held.
Those wishing to make a donation in Sybil’s memory are asked to direct their donations to the Kingston Humane Society.
