Obituary of Gerlinde Paterson
Gerlinde G.L. Paterson (nee Janocha) was born in Liegnitz/ Silesia (Now under Polish Occupation) on April 25, 1937. She passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023.
Beloved wife of Charles Paterson. Predeceased by her parents Engelbert and Martha (nee Zeidler) Janocha, Bavaria, Germany, and brother Werner Kappler (Elly) Sudbury.
Survived by her daughter Sharon Martha Gauler, Kingston, and sons Glenn Gauler (Kim Izzet), Toronto, Jason Scott Paterson (Jennifer Atkinson), Georgetown; Stepchildren Sherri Lee Paterson, Kingston, Charles W. Paterson (Rose), Peterborough their children Adrian, Adam, Alicia; Grandchildren Justin Matthew Victor Gazley and Jack Sagan Paterson; Sisters Lena Gorzynski (Late Marcel), Sudbury, Gerda Renkewitz (Late Fritz), Stuttgart, Germany. Many Nieces and Nephews; Madeline Buckman/Gorzynski (Terry), Patricia Bondson/Gorzynski (Norman), Raymond Gorzynski, all three residing in Sudbury, Anneliese Flynn (nee Kappler) and her children Angela Flynn and Bill Flynn, residing in Sudbury, Elke Renkewitz, Germany, Ute Renkewitz, Germany, Manfred Renkewitz, Germany.
Gerlinde Paterson Immigrated from Germany to her beloved Canada in 1958, settled first in Sudbury, ON, and moved to Kingston in 1964. She was employed for a time by OHIP but devoted most of her time and love to bringing up her children.
According to Mrs. Paterson’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on July 7, 2023, at 11 am at the James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston). Interment to follow at Cataraqui Cemetery.
Donations in Gerlinde’s memory can be made to the Kingston Humane Society or Kingston Youth Shelter.
