Obituary of Dorothy Forester
Born Dorothy Ellen Howes on a farm near Godfrey, Ontario, Dorothy died peacefully in her sleep at Cataraqui Heights Retirement Home on Friday, 23 June 2023. She is survived by her daughters Lynne Sitar (Bill), Sheila Chase (Rick), and Sandy Allore (Paul), 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Forester, brother, Donald Howes, granddaughter, Valerie Muchenje, and grandson, Craig Chase.
Dorothy grew up during the Great Depression and shared with her family many memories of farm life with her parents and two younger brothers. After meeting her husband of 60 years, Ray Forester, she began her life as a military wife. They traveled extensively in Europe and made homes in various places in Canada.
She was a long-standing member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, as well as a volunteer with the Red Cross. Dorothy's main passion and focus in life was her family to which she dedicated much time and effort.
Dorothy was known as an ardent royal watcher with a dedicated respect for the Queen. Though not a fan of attention, her warm and friendly manner earned her many friends.
Her family would like to express appreciation for the loving care and comfort that Dorothy received in her last days at the Royale and Cataraqui Heights Retirement Residences.
A memorial service and reception for Dorothy will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd in Kingston at 11 am, Saturday 15 July 2023.
