Obituary of Elisabeth Spindler
Elisabeth (Liesel, Betty) Franziska Spindler
October 31, 1936 – June 27, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Elisabeth (Liesel, Betty) Spindler. She died peacefully at Kingston General Hospital in Kingston, ON, on June 27, after suffering a stroke.
She is predeceased by her husbands, Rudi Spindler and Lenard Parsons, her brothers Dietmar Schumann, Richard Schumann, Ziegfred Schumann and her sister Charlotte Martens. She is survived by her sons Peter (Elke) and Frank (Catherin Ernst-Spindler), her grandchildren, Julie (Bryce) Van Camp, James Spindler, Riley Spindler and Aaron Spindler (Emma Austin) and her great grandchildren, Valerie Spindler, Quinn Van Camp and Thomas Spindler, her nieces and nephews, Gerda Spindler, Sabine Smith, Maggi Bonnah, Johnny Spindler, Angie Morris and Richard Schumann.
Elisabeth was born in Germany, the third of 5 children and immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s. She and Rudi first settled in Winnipeg, then moved to Arnprior, ON and later settled in Kingston, ON.
Elisabeth became a homemaker after having her children. She was very involved with her community as a life member of Ontario Horticultural Society (Collins Bay and District) and a Horticulture Judge, an active member of the Kingston chapter of Save The Children, the Widows’ and Widowers’ Club.
Elisabeth’s favorite thing was to create a delicious meal, and share it with others over interesting conversation. Elisabeth had many hobbies, gardening, machine quilting, crocheting, knitting, rug hooking, tatting, playing bridge, ballroom dancing. Elisabeth loved to travel. Elisabeth always kept others informed about the current news and political happenings.
We wish to thank all the health care providers. She was well loved and will be remembered as a lovely mother, mother-in-law, aunt and friend.
As per her wishes, please wear bright colors to the Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at James Reid Funeral Home 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, ON, K7M 7H3 (entering from the rear doors). Interment at Cataraqui Cemetery will be at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Save the Children would be appreciated.
