Obituary of Greg Lowry
Gregory (Greg) James Lowry, of Kingston, Ontario, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2023 at the young age of 72.
Greg was born on December 2, 1950 to James Kenneth Lowry and Gwendolyn Lois Lowry (Huyck) in Kingston, Ontario. Greg worked alongside the family on their dairy farm for many years before meeting his sweetheart and deciding he couldn't live without her. That took him to Smiths Falls, where he spent numerous years working at the Hershey's Chocolate Factory, which eventually led to him becoming a skilled and certified millwright.
Greg and Dianne were married in Kingston, Ontario on February 12, 1972 and went on to have two beautiful daughters, Tara and Rylie.
Greg was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Greg was unendingly proud of Tara, Rylie and Dianne and always tried his best to support them. Greg was also passionate about his community and could often be found helping others when he wasn’t at home.
Anyone who knew Greg, knew that he was the most loving husband, father and papa a family could ask for. Greg was predeceased by his mother, Gwendoyln, infant brother, Paul, and mother-in-law, Virginia. Greg is survived by his father, James Lowry, his wife, Dianne Lowry, children, Tara Carey (Mike), their children Dylan, Aidan, and Julia and Rylie Geant (Alex) and their children Aprilia, Maddalena, and Scarlett, as well as his siblings Judilyn, Tom, Pam and Valerie.
Greg's love for God and his faith led him throughout his life. He was a servant to his church and community, humbly sharing his knowledge and expertise in all areas of life. Greg always made himself available to anyone who needed help. Known for his wealth of knowledge, he was a teacher to many.
He was our rock, our hero, a man of principle and a confidant. He was always faithful, trustworthy and had a generous nature.
Now that Greg has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Greg’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey in heaven.
The family requests that donations be made in Greg's honour to Cornerstone Christian Academy and Impact Church Building Fund.
