Obituary of Mary Yvonne St. Pierre

Mary Yvonne St-Pierre (nee Van Allen) passed away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on June 4th, 2023, having celebrated her 99th birthday on May 13th. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond in 1973; her parents, William Van Allen and Mary Eva (nee McAvoy); and siblings MacEvoy, Donald, Thomas, Victor, Eric, Vivien Gust, of Saskatchewan and Kathleen Davitt of B.C. Mary is survived by loving sister, Claire Kramer, Calgary. Left to mourn are her children, Eva Barnett, Anne St-Pierre, Kingston, Marie (Jean-François Dufour), Switzerland, François (Lucie DiPronio) and Vivian (Jamie Schmeiser), Toronto; grandchildren, Eric Barnett, Toronto and Patrick Barnett, Vancouver, Madeleine St-Pierre, Toronto, Matthieu and Jean-Philippe Dufour, Switzerland, Peter, Sophia and Veronica Schmeiser, Toronto, and many devoted nieces and nephews.

Born in 1924 in Shaunavon, Sask., Mary was employed by the bank, then transferred in her early twenties to a branch in Cornwall, Ont. where she met Raymond. Mary worked part-time in bookkeeping in both Cornwall and Toronto, retiring to Kingston in 1998. Mary was an avid gardener, reader and bridge player. Mary was a lifelong, active member of the Catholic Women’s League. As a person devoted to service, Mary volunteered and supported many charitable organizations. Her special interests were Covenant House, Ont. Federation for Cerebral Palsy, and BirthRight. Her beautiful, selfless spirit will be greatly missed.
