Obituary of James Demetre Karasimos

It is with tear-filled eyes and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Demetre James Karasimos on May 28th, 2023, at the Kingston General Hospital. He was 89 years young. James was born in Piraeus Greece, on November 16, 1934, where he spent his youth before he emigrated to Canada in the late 50's. He met his wife Stavroula (Diamond) and started building a new life together, including four children Athanasia, Paraskevas, Efthimios, Falkona, and Daughter in law Deirdre. James was a hard worker and never stopped trying to do better for his family. If it meant working two jobs that's what he did, whatever it took. He was kind, gentle, humble, and always ready to lend a hand. He was the Toronto Maple Leafs biggest fan. He loved his sports as much as he loved his sweets, hockey, baseball, soccer, and sweets in that order with a heavy sprinkle of scratch tickets just to be sure. James worked at Queen's University for over thirty years and always took pride in a job well done until his retirement. We would like to thank everyone at the K.G.H. who cared for our dad, Dr's, nurses, and everyone, and a heartfelt thank you to Dennis Beauchamp for going out of his way to help us understand and communicate with us about our father. This gentleman was amazing, we will never forget his kindness, Thank you. Our dad will be forever missed, he was one of a kind, a true gentleman. Rest In Peace Daddy with all the love in the world. Till we see each other again, and yes, I will buy scratch tickets for you I won't forget. Mom's been waiting for you and she's probably wondering why it took you so long, don't get into the wrong car again. Love You Forever

A visitation will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church (121 Johnson St, Kingston, ON K7L1X9) on Monday, June 12th, 2023, from 10-11 am followed by a service in the chapel. Interment to take place at Cataraqui Cemetery (927 Purdy’s Mill Rd, Kingston, ON K7M 3N1). Following the interment, the family would like to invite everyone back to the Church for a reception.
