Obituary of Jacki McCabe

Jacolyn (Jacki) Mary McCabe (Nee Deggan)

McCABE, Jacki - Born July 12, 1949 in Renfrew Ontario, gone to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, 23 May 2023 at Kingston General Hospital. Jacki joins her late husband Myles in the hereafter. There is no doubt Jacki and her Myles are reunited and joyfully singing and dancing to many 50’s and 60’s tunes. Jacki loved all things Irish and the music of The Dubliners, The Wolfe Tones and especially Daniel O’Donnell. She loved traveling, a rousing debate, a good mystery book/show, a pint of Guinness, a glass of rioja wine on her favourite patio in Nerja and all animals, especially cats and dogs.

Myles and Jacki traveled extensively. She once said that they did over 90 trips in the 40 years together including many cruises, land excursions and trips home to Ireland.  After Myles’ passing she traveled with girlfriends who enjoyed her humour and adventuresome spirit.

Jacki worked 32 years in various jobs for the federal government including her last position before retiring as a purchasing officer. Jacki belonged to many social clubs and organizations over the last 40 years. She was at the time of her death the treasurer of the Frontenac Heritage Foundation.

Jacki loved social events and was the heart and soul (and organizer) of her friends gatherings. She will be missed by her local friends, Linda Goldstein, Waltraud Jacobs, Marie Healy, Mary and Jackie Dowling, Marlene Richardson, Ursula Soroka, Gerry Stewart and John McMichael. Her travel agent Pat Best will miss her as a friend and her frequent queries on trips.

Jacki’s Irish relatives will remember her fondly over many trips and adventures in Ireland and Spain. Those missing her include Brendan McCabe, Joe and Ann McCabe, Noel and Marian McCabe as well as nephews/niece Brian, Niall, Ronan, Ciaran and Orla. Great nieces Fiona, Sinead, Megan, Aine and Alannah will miss her texts and birthday greetings. Dear friends Ann Fleming of Naas (County Kildare), Mary Davis of Dublin and Kris Hebert of Kingston also will grieve her passing. Jacki’s last visit to friends and family in Ireland was June 2022.
